Week 3 Blog Assignment
Every year at Christmas time I see many advertisements for toys. The advertisements are gender based on what the toy consist of, such as a commercial for dolls has girls playing with them and toy trucks usually have boys in the commercial. Lego's have made girls version of legos but the girls version has purple and pick colors.
The early childhood facility where I am employed is a diverse environment and I feel that it is necessary for children to have a variety of books that tell children how different families can be. We have a few same-sex partnered families and children may have questions about other families. Teacher's must show respect for other families and their beliefs and it is important to teach children in the same manner.
Growing up it was very difficult because my mother viewed my brothers as superior than my sister and I. She believes my brothers have better jobs and are smarter. This has always made me feel less important and I was always trying to please my mother.
